This song spoke to me when I was an awkward teenager not brave enough to talk to my crush in high school. It is a shame this didn't do better in the charts.

Gordon Boyd Yes Summer of 1982. I couldn’t understand it at the time. It was a return to 1975 the layered voices of I’m Not in Love. I can only think it was a fashion thing. I loved it. It still sounds great and tugs at the heart strings.

If I remember correctly they also did Dreadlock Holiday (first). Jonathan King was a guest on the show and so he also mentioned 10cc. They appeared on the 6.55 Special the following year and did Feel The Love and I'm Not In Love (videos on here).

Great hidden gem! So sad that they disbanded after '83. When they returned in the early 90s it was, yet wasn't the real 10cc anymore. Kind of got the feeling that Eric had moved on from it since he and Graham Gouldman weren't really seeing eye to eye on musical material and eventually led to Erics departure from 10cc.

how nice to be able to listen to this music that marked young people in Brasilia in the 82s and 83s, packed a lot of Saturdays from the crowd

Beautiful song but video ruined by the fake vertical bars lines.

Like a lot of 10cc songs, they all became a little bit samey. Gone are the punchy lyrics and clever guitar play. Replaced by 'love songs' which they didn't do at the beginning. Turning the band into a 'reggae' band was a mistake. Eric seems to have gone down that route ever since. After deceptive bends they really ran out of steam and forgot their modus operandi. Dreadlock Holiday was the only good track on what was a largely dreadful album - Bloody Tourists. Wall Street Shuffle and I'm Mandy fly me, along with 'Im not in love' were where Stewart and Gouldman were at their very best. After Creme and Godley left the spark went out of the band. Deceptive Bends were left over songs from other albums that the other two had refused, ie 'Things we do for love' 'Good Morning Judge' etc. You could see them going their separate ways on tracks like 'Marriage Beaureux Rendezvous' I'm afraid they needed more writers to bounce off, but Stewart wanted to be boss. That's the way I see it.

Such a good song. It harkens after "I'm not in love" ,but I find it to be a more sensitive sort of song. I like it a great deal :0)

Thanks - you don't know how long I've waited to hear this again (well, ok, since seeing them perform it on some programme like Pebble Mill in 1982!) Shame it wasn't a hit - there's definitely a touch of I'm Not in Love in the backing vocals, too

Yes, it was out in August 1982 but only made number 50,their first single in four years since they scored their third number 1 with Dreadlock Holiday (the others being Rubber Bullets and,of course,I'm Not in Love).
